Chapter 3

July 19th 2026, 14:00 – 20:00, Novilla, Berlin. Hasselwelderstr 22 , 12439 Berlin
The third chapter of Catalyzing Coexistence, Escurrir, asks what becomes possible when reflection leaves the realm of discussion and enters the messy terrain of making, playing, trying, imagining, and acting together.
How do we remain open to one another while refusing a world doing everything to pin us down or disappear?
We speak of Escurrir, a word that describes the feeling of taking the shape of something yet leaking through, as a way of staying alive. A practice of moving through life without surrendering to categories, borders, and the algorithms of a world that seeks to use, measure, and govern us. Knowing we cannot be fully out of it, knowing we don’t have much choice, and/or knowing it involves being where we want to be for our growth.
In a world where migrating is marked by borders, deportation regimes, and systems that demand legibility and moulding oneself in exchange for access, belonging or staying are conditional. So, rather than searching for a common holder, we meet in the slippery places to learn how to gather there, where we can actually coincide. How we learn from the sharing of fugitive, reclaiming and survival knowledges in the undercommons; at home, in the breaks, kitchens, back rooms, waiting rooms, voice notes, workshops, friendships, parenting, connections with strangers, all informal networks…
How do we remain open without becoming fully graspable? How do we continue to mix a on nd bloom spaces for opacity, refusal, pleasure, playing, life and imagination?

STAGES
Escurrir Artist Lab & Workshop unfolds in two stages:
The first stage brings together Sangeeta Lerner, Qusay Awad and Walla Capelobo; artists working across sound, body, architecture, performance, liberation, storytelling, memory, mixed approaches, and more. They meet around the traces left by SILATURAHMI and DIS/CONTINUITIES, the previous Catalysing Coexistence chapters. Through a practical proposal, MINQ will guide the artists so that, together, we can feel and explore what “Escurrir” means or can become in this context.
The Artist Lab connects and notices emerging matters, develops a thread, and crafts different yet interconnected active responses and proposals in the form of workshops (closest word to what will happen).
JOIN :
July 19th, workshops and dinner
The second stage opens this thread for more people to follow it together through a day of workshops/premises that includes each artist’s practice proposal in relation to the artist lab. These sessions invite participants to experiment and create something together through the artists’ experience, ending with a dinner in the garden.
Re-Membering x Sangeeta
This workshop invites participants to explore the body as a source of knowledge and re-membering. Through simple practices of movement, breath, and attentive listening inspired by the natural world, we will approach the body as land, a living landscape that holds memory, relationship, and connection.
The session will unfold through guided practices that encourage sensing rather than performing, culminating in an immersive sound journey. Together, we will consider collective rest not as an individual act, but as a shared practice of presence, care, and relationship.
Time 14:00-15:30
Duration: 75–90 minutes
Mapping (Un)Relations: A Participatory Spatial Exercise x Qusay Awad
This workshop invites participants to explore how we position ourselves in relation to others through a collective spatial exercise.
Through simple drawing, movement, and a series of guided prompts, participants will gradually create a temporary shared landscape that they can inhabit, reshape, and move through together. Rather than mapping identities or fixed categories, the workshop focuses on relationships, movement, distance, proximity, and the invisible forces that shape how we occupy space and relate to one another.
The map will remain unfinished and continuously transformed by the group, becoming a collective drawing of encounters rather than a representation of consensus.
Time: 16:00-17:00
Duration: 45–60 minutes
Heat x Walla Capelobo
Faced with the scorching heat that already marks the beginning of this summer and the certainty of an increasingly unstable future, this workshop takes climate urgency as its starting point for radical imagination. Rejecting the ready-made solutions of the hegemonic system, we propose to collectively build tools, both material and symbolic, that help us inhabit the new ecological reality that imposes itself upon us. Clay, shaped by our hands, and fire, as a radical technology of material transformation, that cooks, that burns, that creates, will be our means to think and practice other ways of existing. By firing the objects we produce, we not only complete the ceramic cycle, but also ignite a symbolic bonfire: a gesture of asking ourselves, together, what radical transformations we want and need to make now, in the urgent present time we inhabit.
Time: 17:30-19:00
Duration: 60 – 90 minutes
19:00 dinner
How to participate
Escurrir is a free admission gathering, but registration is required due to limited capacity.
The event is primarily supported by the IMPACT Program of the Berlin Senate. Like many independently organised cultural projects, the funding often only partially covers the overall production costs. While a large part of the programme is supported, some aspects of the gathering, including food preparation, additional production needs, and the collective labour surrounding the event, still need to be sustained through self-organisation, donations, and community support.
To help sustain these shared practices and make the gathering possible, we warmly encourage donations starting from 10€.

Within the broader framework of Catalyzing Coexistence, this chapter is a bridge towards materialising pieces to be shared later (in an exhibition in November). However, Escurrir also intends to ask which forms of transformation and initiation, catalysis, become necessary when coexistence continues to be organised through inequality, necropolitics and unjust peace.
