The first edition of Retrospeculative, a new program on ASSOY Radio, begins with artist, friend, and longtime collaborator Pedro Oliveira.
Pedro has been part of the sōydivision constellation since 2020, when we invited him to perform at one of our soy&synth editions at sari-sari Space in Neukölln. Since then, his presence has unfolded across multiple projects within our ecosystem > research-based, performative, sonic, and dialogical.
At the heart of tonight’s conversation is Jendela Sonorama, a lecture-performance format developed by Pedro Oliveira and Ariel William Orah since 2020. Across different editions, Jendela Sonorama explores listening as historiography, as situated knowledge, as political resonance. Two of its iterations led to the productions Aryati (2022) and Tahanguentar(2024, restaging 2025).
Retrospeculative #01 reflects on this ongoing fermentation within the sōydivision constellation: how ideas age, shift, echo, and reconfigure through time.
