MISS/VER_TRAUEN — Trust and Mistrust as Democratic Practic

Schön Ungewöhnlich is a participatory artistic project series at NOVILLA in Berlin-Schöneweide, initiated by Moving Poets e.V. in artistic cooperation with soydivision.

Through sound, radio, zine-making, embodied workshops, and collective dialogue, the series explores how trust and mistrust emerge, break down, and are renegotiated in everyday democratic life.

The project responds to growing polarization and recent acts of intimidation in the neighborhood—including two book-burning incidents outside NOVILLA. Instead of retreating into fear, Schön Ungewöhnlich creates welcoming spaces for encounter, listening, collective making, and the participation of migrant, diasporic, and marginalized voices.

The title means “beautifully unusual.” It carries forward the experimental spirit of the 2025 project Molto Bello Strano, while focusing more directly on trust, belonging, and democratic resilience. What feels unfamiliar does not have to be feared: it can become a starting point for curiosity, connection, and collective learning.
